The Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s Basic RiderCourse is designed to provide an introduction to the fundamentals of safe, responsible motorcycling. It consists of classroom education (approximately 5 hours) as well as on-motorcycle instruction and practice (approximately 10 hours) with a variety of learning activities.
The BRC begins by focusing on basic motorcycle operation with an emphasis on clutch and throttle control. Students will learn how to move in a straight line, shift, stop and the basics of cornering. Students then move on to more advanced techniques such as Stopping Quickly, Swerving, Advanced Cornering, and Stopping Quickly in a Curve.
The BRC also focuses on street strategies with an emphasis on the SEE strategy to help you avoid potential hazards.
Students must pass a written examination as well as a on-cycle evaluation in order to receive a Completion Certificate.
